Local Service Projects
Dexter Presbyterian Church
For 2016, our summer project entailed assisting Dexter Presbyterian Church with repairs to its foundation. Volunteers helped prepare for excavation and assisted masons in replacing the stones and masonry. In 2017, we replaced the windows in the kitchen and fellowship hall, and we did some minor repairs and painting as time allowed. In 2018 we repainted the exterior of the building.
While our church has helped provide physically for Dexter Presbyterian Church, we have also helped provide for them spiritually as well. Each month we have church members who help deliver sermons for the congregation. In addition, our Associate Pastor officiates the Lord's Supper and oversees their Session meetings.
Building Blocks
Previous summers from 2010 to 2015 have seen us engage the community in a week-long rehabilitation project in the city called Building Blocks. We performed a variety of tasks. We repaired foundations, painted homes, installed siding, rehabilitated kitchens and baths and replaced decks and porches. We found projects through Neighbors of Watertown and leveraged a partnership with the YMCA and Immaculate Heart's youth to make this a true community effort.
MINC
In summer 2019 we partnered with Ministries in the North Country (MINC) to rehabilitate the exterior of a house in Theresa NY.
